angel island

A breezy ferry ride away, is a tiny island with hiking trails to amazing vistas. The top of Mt. Livermore makes for a beautiful picnic spot with 360 views of the bay. While eating lunch, we watched over the city...

The past of this island holds some sorrow. The "Ellis Island of the West" was a stopping point for mainly Asian immigrants, majority of them Chinese. Along the lead painted walls, are traces of poetry, carved into walls from detainees, (some of whom were here for two years!) I can't imagine how homesick and lonely it must have been.
